APPLICATION LETTER pt 1
DEFINITION
Job application letter is a letter made by a job applicant for a certain position for acceptance in an agency. In writing a job application letter, it is not always based on one format. But there are many formats or versions that can be used according to the needs of job applicants.
FUNCTION
Apart from functioning as a communication tool between applicants and job recipients, job application letters also function as an initial assessment tool whether they are suitable to be placed in the position that has been chosen or included in the application letter or not.
PARTS of a job application letter
There are generally 3 parts to a job application letter. Here's the explanation:
Salutation (opening)
Salutatio is the opening section that contains to whom the letter is addressed. The format is,
Dear sir/madam (when you don't know the name and gender of the recipient)
Dear Mr./ Mrs./ Ms. Last name (when name and gender are known)
Body of Paragraph (content)
This section contains the gist of the letter. This is also where the last education or work experience is listed and where the job vacancies are found. Complete CV and portfolio included in the envelope can also be included.
Closing (cover)
Closing is the closing part that marks the end of the application letter.
The parts of the letter are more detailed, namely:
Cover letter header
This section usually contains the sender's name, city, country, phone number, email, recipient name, company name and address.

Date Line
This section contains the date the letter was written. Usually placed above the header or below the header. Use of date is mandatory. Some include the date and some don't.
Greetings
The greeting that is often used is "dear". In writing, the author should include the last name of the recipient and put a comma. Example:
Dear Mr. Marko,
Or it can be replaced with Dear Sir, (for men) and Dear Madam, (for women) or you can also write Dear Madam or Sir, (if you don't know the gender)
Paragraph 1
This paragraph contains personal information as well as the position/position chosen.
Paragraph 2
In the second paragraph the author lists his personal skills and achievements to ensure that the author is suitable for the position.
Paragraph 3
In this section, the writer reassures the recipients that the writer has the appropriate qualifications for the chosen position and hopes to be called for an interview.
Closing and signature
Include closing greetings (accompanied by a comma), signature and full name. Examples of closing greetings: sincerely, regards, your faithfully, etc.
Note: when writing a cover letter, avoid making abbreviations or using non-formal sentences such as I'm, I'll, I can't, etc. It is best to use polite and non-offensive language.
